Marvelous May

The month of May is the most anticipated, yet stressful for a teacher. We are all anxiously awaiting the arrival of summer break, but our "To-Do List" to be able to walk out the door the last day of school seems neverending.

Most of you know this past year has been the most challenging thus far in my teaching career. As difficult as this past schoolyear was, it was also the most rewarding. My students worked so hard each and every day preparing for the dreaded TAKS test. Words cannot express the emotion I felt when I called each student into the hallway to tell him/her how wonderfully he/she did on the TAKS test when the results came back. The students cried tears of joy...I cried tears of joy...we danced...we sang....we called Moms, Dads, Grandmas, Grandpas, Aunts and Uncles....we CELEBRATED for working so hard!! =) I could not be more proud of this group of children. They are an incredible group of kiddos and are going to do AMAZING things in life.

Once the TAKS test was over, we were basically in fun mode the last few weeks of school. =)

We had Field Day in early May and my students OWNED IT!! :)

I had some FAST runners in my class...

My kiddos were ready to take 1st place in the relay...

Jada, myself and Markecia watching the races :)

We also went on some fun Field Trips during the last month of school!

We went rollerskating and it was sooooo much fun!! I hadn't been rollerskating since I was a kid. I was actually sore at the end of the day!!

The teachers had a blast rollerskating =) (Lana, Stacy and myself)

One of my students, Johnny, bought anything/everything you could think of when we went rollerskating. He always would make me laugh. =)

I turned around and this is what he was wearing....

He was sweet enough to let me wear his cool shades ;)

Our biggest Field Trip was going to Main Event. Main Event has bowling, arcade games, putt putt, laser tag...etc. The kiddos had such a great time!!!

My sweet girls :)

Mrs. Webb's kiddos :)

This past year I was so lucky to have 2 students come from Ball High School (B.E.S.T.T students) every day. They would read to the students and work with them in a small group setting. My students greatly looked up to Francisco and Allie and I am so thankful to have been given the opportunity to have them in my classroom.

Allie with Sabrina and Jiha at the park...

Francisco and his fan club...haha

We celebrated Franciso and Allie's last day in our classroom with a small party.

The cake was yummy :)...

The teachers who had a B.E.S.T.T. student in their classroom were invited to attend a banquet at Ball High School. It was really nice. :)

Anne, myself, Stephany and Judith at the banquet...

The last day of school I wanted to make super special for my kiddos. I had a Last Day Luau. We had little party, watched a movie and watched the slideshow I put together before we said our goodbyes. I had children in tears not wanting to leave!! :( This was the most loving group of children and I have a very special place in my heart for each one of them.

I sure am going to miss these boys and girls...

The weekend before Mother's Day, Anne and I decided to do some shopping on The Strand with the little ones. =) Eli and Sara were so good during our shopping trip, we just had to take them to La King's for some ice cream. =)

I just love La King's! It's this old fashioned ice cream and candy shop.

The inside is so fun and colorful, I just had to take pictures :)...

Sara and Eli enjoying their ice cream...

I like this pic because they figured out it was so much easier without spoons--haha...

Eli sure did like his strawberries-n-cream :)...

Anne was so sweet and bought Eli and Sara some pretty pinwheels!

They quickly figured out it was fun to hit the pinwheels together to watch them spin--haha =)

Miss Sara was all smiles with her pinwheel...

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to my wonderful mother, Debbie =)

I love you Mom!! xoxo

This poem made me think of you...

A Sonnet for My Incomparable Mother

I often contemplate my childhood, Mom.
I am a mother now, and so I know
Hard work is mixed together with the fun;
You learned that when you raised me long ago.

I think of all the things you gave to me:
Sacrifice, devotion, love and tears,
Your heart, your mind, your energy and soul--
All these you spent on me throughout the years.

You loved me with a never-failing love
You gave me strength and sweet security,
And then you did the hardest thing of all:
You let me separate and set me free.

Every day, I try my best to be
A mother like the mom you were to me.

It fills my heart to watch Eli grow and learn new things every day. I am so blessed to be Eli's Mommy. Mother's Day was a very special day with my Eli and Charlie. We had a nice lunch at La Brisa and just enjoyed the day together. =)
