Mother's Heart
I loved you from the very start,
You stole my breath, embraced my heart.
Our life together has just begun
You're part of me my little one.
As mother with child, each day I grew,
My mind was filled with thoughts of you.
I'd daydream of the things we'd share,
Like late-night bottles and Teddy bears.
Like first steps and skinned knees,
Like bedtime stories and ABC's.
I thought of things you'd want to know,
Like how birds fly and flowers grow.
I thought of lessons I'd need to share,
Like standing tall and playing fair.
When I first saw your precious face,
I prayed your life be touched with grace.
I thanked the angels from above,
And promised you unending love.
Each night I lay you down to sleep,
I gently kiss your head and cheek.
I count your little fingers and toes;
I memorize your eyes and nose.
I linger at your nursery door,
Awed each day I love you more.
Through misty eyes, I dim the light,
I whisper, "I love you" every night.
I loved you from the very start,
You stole my breath, embraced my heart.
As mother and child our journeys begin,
My heart's yours forever little one.

My precious baby boy is now 4 months old! I cannot believe how the months just fly by! I truly cherish each moment I get to spend with Eli. I just love being Eli's Mommy! It is hands down the best job in the entire world. I look at his little face and he just warms my heart.
So sweet...
Happy boy...
Laughing at Lulu (he thinks Lulu is hysterical--haha)...
Charlie and I look forward to playing with Eli every night in anticipation of what he will do next. He is discovering new things each day. He now likes to look at his baby soft books I read to him. He also likes to shake his rattles.
Eli enjoying playtime on the floor...
Eli shaking one of his rattles (Thank you Auntie Courtney for the new cute outfit!)...
Eli still loves his exersaucer most! He will play in it until he is so tired he can't play anymore.
Eli in his exersaucer...
Eli really likes to watch some of the children's shows that come on television. I know everyone has a different opinion as far as TV is concerned with babies. The way I see it is Charlie and I are calm people and Eli is a calm baby. I don't believe that allowing him to watch a kid's show with songs and bright characters while he plays is going to cause him any kind of stress. I actually think children learn from some of the children's shows. I grew up on Sesame Street and my Mom says she was amazed at all the things I picked up on from watching.
Eli has changed so much in the past month! He is longer and can now reach the bottom of his exersaucer. He also has A LOT more hair! It's white-blonde (like Mommy and Daddy had when we were babies) and you have to hold him near the light to see how much hair he actually has. haha
Uncle Chris and Auntie Samantha find Eli the coolest tee shirts! He is wearing one of them in the picture below with the family and is wearing another one in the Valentine pictures below. Thanks y'all for all of the cool shirts!
Here is Eli in his green monster shirt from Uncle Chris and Auntie Samantha...
One of my favorite pieces of clothing Eli owns are his super cute Levi's jeans! it just cracks me up that jeans are made that tiny. I took some pictures of Eli in just his jeans. I must say, I think he could be a Baby Gap poster child modeling in his jeans. haha.
Eli rockin his Levi's...
I took Eli's monthy comparison photos. It was hard to keep him still this month! He was showing me how well he can lift his legs and kick them.
First, here are Eli's monthly comparison shots in his chair...

Here are some of the things Eli is doing at 4 months old:
*Eli LOVES to grab things now--rattles, books, toys...
*He now sticks his tongue out just a little bit and thinks it is hysterical!
*He eats usually 6 ounces of cereal in the morning before daycare (at 5:00 am) and 7-8 ounces of cereal at night before bed (at 9:00 pm). He eats 6 ounces every 4-5 hours during the day.
*Eli can now stand solid when you hold him on the floor. He actually takes these funny little marching steps! I have no idea where/when he learned how to do that, but it is the absolute cutest thing I have ever seen!
*He now wants to try and help Mommy hold the bottle when I am feeding him. He will still reach out with one arm and pinch my chin. It is so very sweet!
*He now LOVES to play in his exersaucer! He likes to explore and "talk to" all of the different toys on it.
*Eli is soooo talkative!! I can't get over how I will sit with him and talk with him and he is very expressive with his responses! I have no idea what he is saying, but he sure has a lot to tell me! haha.
*Eli has started teething. Poor baby! He just sucks his fingers and wants to snuggle when his gums are bothering him.
*He is now wearing all size 6-9 month clothes.
*He LOVES the jumper at daycare!! I actually heard him laughing behind a closed door when I went to pick him up the other day. He just jumps and jumps.
*Eli will now study the pictures in his baby books when I read to him. He likes the brightly colored pages!
*He thinks Daddy is the funniest person in the entire world! Daddy plays "airplane" with him and he laughs and laughs!
*Eli knows what Mommy and Daddy kisses are... He will give the biggest grin in return for a kiss... And that melts my heart :)

We've had a lot of exciting events over the past couple of weeks! My Mom's birthday was February 7th. We decided to go spend the entire weekend in Cypress to celebrate! The Thursday beforehand I packed the car up, so after work on Friday we were able to get on the road.
Nana and Super Pop Pop were very happy because they got to babysit for me on Friday night.
Nana sure does love time with her Eli...
On Saturday we celebrated Mom's birthday! I asked her what kind of cake she wanted me to make her for her birthday. She decided on cupcakes, so I make her devil's food and white cake cupcakes with white buttercream and chocolate buttercream frosting made from scratch. They were very yummy!
My Dad bought me a gift even though it wasn't my birthday..... haha
We had a lot of fun celebrating Mom's birthday! Everyone had such a great time visiting. We also played an intense game of "Buzzword." Everyone was amazed at how much Eli had grown over the past few weeks!

One thing I love about my job are the fun activities and classroom parties! We had our class Valentine Party on Friday, February 12th. It was a lot of fun! The kiddos had been looking forward to their party all week.
My friend Jan (she is the 2nd grade team leader) always has the cutest ideas! She had her students bring cereal boxes to make valentine mailboxes. They turned out sooo adorable I wanted to make some too!

Valentine weekend at home was super special! It was Eli's first Valentine's Day and I couldn't wait to celebrate it!

Eli received some fun Valentine gifts and he had fun opening them. :) Eli received a piggy bath mitt, play rings and some new outfits.
Eli was VERY excited about his play rings...
Lulu and Eli both had a great time playing with their Valentine toys.

Charlie and I exchanged gifts as well and I am soooo very excited!!! My sweet Charlie gave me a gift card to pick out a camera!!! As you all can tell, I LOVE to take pictures! I have needed a new camera for awhile. I am looking forward to learning all of the new settings and features on the new camera and snapping tons of pictures!
We had a wonderful Valentine's Day at the Webb household! Eli, Mommy and Daddy love you so very much! Happy 1st Valentine's Day sweet baby boy!!

Eli went for his 4 month checkup on Tuesday. He is a growing boy! He now weighs 17 lbs. 1/4 oz and is 27 inches long! He is in the 88th percentile for weight and 89th percentile for length!! The doctor said, "Mom, you are doing right with Eli. Keep up the great Mommy-ing." That made me feel really good. :)
He has a little cough right now and I have felt so bad. He is still the happy Eli we all know and love...but I hate hearing that little cough. The doc said his chest sounded good and it was right to let it run it's course.
Eli now gets to start veggies!!! I am sooo excited and cannot wait to feed him his first jarred food!!
The most EXCITING part of the visit was when Eli was laying on the table and he let out his very first belly laugh!! He has never laughed out loud before, so I just couldn't get enough!! It was the sweetest sound I have ever heard..... I sure do love that baby boy!
